fareshare rice appeal

This is not a specifically vegan food related post. It is a small plea to help spread the word about a great organisation called FareShare and its winter rice appeal.

Regular readers might have noticed that I volunteer for FareShare. This wonderful group rescues food that would otherwise probably end up in landfill and cooks it into a million meals a year for hungry people. I spend my Thursdays making veggie rolls, chopping vegetables, rolling pastry and packing up food. One time I cooked up a large vat of vegan chilli for 600 meals.

Currently they are short of rice and are running a winter rice appeal.

Please feel free to donate to help purchase rice, or you can even buy a 10KG bag of rice and deliver it to them in Abbotsford. If you can’t do this, please help spread the word by sharing this post on your social media channels.

Donations can be made over the phone, on the website, or by cheque or cash.
