eat all the smith & deli sandwiches – #23, hail seitan!

Day 23.
OK, I love the name of this, and I love pineapple, but I cannot bring myself to eat a savoury sandwich with pineapple on it. EVER. You will have to try it for yourself. I am on strike.
It is heavy with seitan, featuring salami, turkey, ham, pineapple, BBQ sauce and cheese.
I welcome any comments on this post, I’m sure it will start a war as to the merits of ham with pineapple.
But like the Hawaiian Pizza (that abomination and thing of horror!), this sandwich is just WRONG, WRONG, WRONG. Some people will understand. 🙂
You are on your own here.

I am fond of the idea of pineapple in a burger with the lot (not an experience I can remember lately) but am not sure about in sandwiches – it has been a long long time since my mum served me ham steaks with pineapple. But I am surprised you didn’t have the sandwich without the pineapple! Guess the pineapple might have been enough to prompt you to take a break
Well I am not a fan of BBQ sauce either. So it was always doomed. 🙂
I was fond of the old Hawaiian pizza but was always a bit hit and miss with pineapple in a burger with the lot (NEVER got beetroot though, urgh!). I’ll try this one day and let you know 😛
My respect for you has diminished. 😛 Pineapple on pizza. NO.
I don’t mind that you didn’t review it, because I was never going to try it anyway! Ewww!
Quite.
I was eagerly waiting for your review on this sandwich because I want to have it!
Let’s be real, you guys are all strange. Pineapple is awesome on savoury things! Hawaiian pizza is awesome, pineapple on burgers is awesome, and pineapple in this sandwich will be awesome. )
🙂
Hawaiian pizza was always better cold for breakfast, try this sandwich in the morning
Hmm Michael, I think that will be because you were hungover! 😛
Oh boy, this is my perfect sandwich!! I canny believe I missed it on my only visit to S&D ? Must visit Melbourne again VERY soon.
Also: savoury pineapple & BBQ sauce – always the best ?
LOL. I think you’re just trying to provoke me into another rant…nobody in their right mind could think this was good. 😛
I’ve tried about one-third of the menu so far and Hail Seitan is one of my favourites. I’ll admit pineapple doesn’t sound great but it nicely balances out the “meat” and bbq sauce. If you like the Wiggum (another of my favourites), you’ll like the HS. Try it. I also love the Home Alone and Rocky. And all the pies.
Pineapple. Erk. 🙂 I will never try it.
