eat all the smith & deli sandwiches – #20, foghorn legless

Day 20.
I’ve recovered from my tempeh terror and I’ve saddled up for another go.
I quite liked the sound of the Foghorn Legless, but I really was quaking at the thought of more tempeh.
I didn’t want to skip it, but after the zombie horror of the Parmageddon with its terrifying tempeh I really couldn’t face the tempeh schnitzel again, so I opted for mine with the wonderful chicken salad instead.
The other ingredients are bacon, ranch dressing, tomato, iceberg lettuce and celery salt. On sourdough.
So this isn’t really a review of the real Foghorn Legless, but if I did that you’d just have me whimpering about tempeh all over again. Hmm, I just did I think.
I didn’t expect to LOVE this sandwich, but in fact I did. It is like the love child of the chicken salad sandwich and the Piggy Bundy. Actually better than the sum of its parts. But then it isn’t the real sandwich, which I would have marked much lower.
Try it your own way, or my way, and see what you think.

maybe you should call your version the foghornless legless 🙂 Given that I really enjoyed this yesterday I highly recommend the tempeh version though I also liked adding biocheese and toasting it so I am also guilty of tampering with it 🙂
I just couldn’t face them tempeh again. I highly recommend my tampered version. 🙂 But I am sure tempeh lovers would love it. It is a good sandwich.
I’m impressed that you found the courage to try this, after all, you do have to try every single one for the integrity of your research project! This is my favourite (so far), but then I do love tempeh.
Well I wasn’t very courageous. I subbed out the tempeh. 🙂
So they can make sandwiches on the spot? I thought everything was premade. So if I wants sandwich without onions but it normally has onions they can make me one?
Absolutely.
