eat all the smith & deli sandwiches – #11, the friend zone

Day 11.
This is a classic ham, cheese and tomato toastie. So everyday, that I almost passed it over in a fit of “meh”. In fact, I had to eat this one twice as I forgot to photograph it the first time. Oops. I should stress that this was no great burden. It was delicious.
I was not such a fan of the seitan based ham in “The Truffle Shuffle” because I could taste the gluten flour in it. The same ham features in “The Friend Zone”, but that flavour is nicely offset by the tanginess of the tomato, so a slightly hammy flavour prevails.
The sandwich came toasted in rye bread with ham, good tomato and mozzarella cheese, which I much prefer to the Bio cheese in the Egg McMartinez.
This is one of the half dozen items available at breakfast. I grabbed one on my way to a seed sowing garden workshop in the Dandenongs on a cold and wet day and it kept me happy and warm in the car on the trip, along with a soy flat white.
Another triumph for the classics.

Hmmm… I wonder if they would sub the mozzarella for the biocheese on the egg mcmartinez? Or are they already pre-assembled?
The breakfast things are preassembled but you could always ask!
