dumplings – take 2 (Shandong Mama)

After my last dumpling post I received a number of recommendations to try the vegan dumplings at Shandong Mama.
Ok, so call me unfaithful, but Shanghai Street, you’re ditched. My heart belongs to Mama.
Shanghai Street dumplings are good, but these ones from Shandong Mama are just the cat’s pyjamas – light, fresh, thin skinned and yummy. The filling is zucchini which is still slightly crisp and bright green with some hints of spring onion, sesame and coriander.
I wasn’t super hungry and I still managed to polish off a whole plateful.
We ate them in a dipping sauce of soy, vinegar and chillis in oil.
In love.
Go and eat some. Now.

I think I might have been one of the few people in Melbourne not to know. They’ve been reviewed a lot. I’m late to the party and Broadsheet is too. 🙂
